Using your graphic to make

Frames or Borders

with PSP 6

Tutorial by Busylady

This is the graphic I used to make this tutorial...you may use your own if you wish.

To use this one right click and save as a JPEG.

Open your image in PSP 6..... a good width is 250 pixels...

1. Using the eye dropper tool (9th one) Right click on a color in the image you want to use as your inner border. The color should appear on the bottom box of the color palette....

Go to Image\Add Border....Symmetric......15......click okay

2. Change the background color to white.....Go to Image\Add Border.....Symmetric....25....click okay

Your image should now look like this ( I used a light blue so the border would show up...yours will be white)

3. Using the magic wand...(8th tool) click on the inside border...with the marching ants around the inside border go to Image\Effects\Inner Bevel...Here are the settings I used but feel free to experiment with the settings.....

when you find what you like click ok...

4. Using the selection tool...set on rectangle.....hold the left mouse key and select a portion of your main graphic....with the ants around it do Edit\Copy.......Edit paste as new Image...

We will use this new image to flood fill your outer border/frame...

5. Take your magic wand and click in the white frame around the graphic...the marching ants will appear.......

6. Using your flood fill tool (bucket).....be sure it is on pattern.....use the settings below

left click inside the white border and it will fill it with the image...

7. With the ants still around the filled border....go to Image\Effects\Inner Bevel. I used the settings below but once again feel free to experiment with them.....

8. Go to image....Resize.......250 pixel width......then go to Image........Sharpen\Sharpen

HOME

If you want, you can continue to add more borders.....but for this tutorial I'm done.....

Have fun....
