Mihara Junior High School

We visited Mihara Junior High School and were given a wonderful reception. The KHS girls were given a lesson in "shodoh" (calligraphy) and then we had a guided tour of the school. Mitsuko, my penfriend of 15 years who lives in Mihara met us at the school and enjoyed her visit with the students. Then she took me to say hello to son no. 2 who is a radiologist in the local hospital and then it was dinner with her husband, son no. 1, his wife and young daughter. The dinner in a seafood restaurant was most interesting and enjoyable. Dinner was swimming around in ponds but luckily we had a small room so we didn't get to say: "I'll have THAT one."

The tempura was to die for but the chopped up squid and a filetted fish were still MOVING - "very fresh". The scraps were then deep fried and came back to us all nice & crunchy so the bones were edible. I had quite a few prawn dishes in Japan and the prawns were wonderful (as good as ours - or were they ours?).
