Shrines 2

Shrines and temples, large and small, and of different religions abound on Miyajima. The pieces of paper tied around the tree (shown on index page) are "omikuji". They are fortune telling paper slips which are randomly distributed. Some contain good luck while others contain bad luck. Either way you tie them around a tree to make the good come true or avert the bad. Some of the smaller shrines had water features. The dippers are used to throw water over the rock.
