Old Timers' Tales

This weekend, Springvale Homestead celebrates its125th Anniversary. Tonight was the Old Timers' Tales - stories about Springvale and Katherine in the 20th Century. The highlight of the evening was listening to Nick Ronan tell stories about his childhood at Springvale Homestead. Snakes and the odd crocodile featured in all of the stories. The homestead is on the banks of the Katherine River and the stories were punctuated by "thud thuds" coming from the river bank - wallabies. The locals have been complaining about the cold for weeks now but tonight I felt cold too. It is15 degrees in my backyard tonight.
