Rockhole Cruise

This cruise was on the Mary River Wetlands and there were heaps of glorious pink lotus lilies. Just like the ones I tried to grow in Clybucca. They were going well until Shelley goat ate the only big pink bud and then the drought got the rest of them.

There is a lot of top end bamboo around the Mary River. The bamboo is known as the disaster plant because it only blooms once every 30-40 or so years. It bloomed just before World War 11 and the subsequent bombing of Darwin and again just before Clyclone Tracey wiped out Darwin in 1974. Due to bloom again soon .....
