TIP #1 I didn't know HOW to store my punchies! Then I found an empty embrodery floss holder, and inspiration struck! I now use this for my punchies! I also like to use clear film canisters.
TIP #2 When I can't find that CERTAIN color I have in my head (for a punchie) I go to my local Home Depot or HQ and grab some paint chip samples. Waller!
TIP #3 Wallpaper samples make great page borders (or pages!)
TIP #4 I am a newbie, and wasn't sure how to store pens horizontally and save room at the same time. I just used an old kleenex box, cut off the lid, and there it was! I covered it in plain white paper. I write the name of all my pens on the outside so I know what I have, and what colors.
Tip #5 SAVE all your cardboard or heavy paper inserts from paper packs, page protector packs, etc...these come in handy when mailing stuff out for swaps; just cut 'em down the size of your envelope, and you get a reinforced mailer w/o having to buy one special!
Tip #6 After taking out my photos from my photo sleeve
album, instead of throwing out
the album I store my die cuts in them and
then all I have to do is flip
through it when I need a die cut. That way all my
diecuts are in one place
plus you can see what you have. 07-16-99
Tip #7 Color copy any special art work your child does at school. You can have it reduced in size so it will fit on your page. I did this when my daughter won the Arbor Day contest at school. I also color copied her certificate and the newspaper article. By reducing them in size I was able to fit them all on one page. 08-19-99
Tip #8 If you like the creative lettering you see in a sb magazine then color copy that also and you can cut out the letters you need and mat them. This will make wonderful headers for your pages. 08-19-99
Tip #9 As soon as you think of a good page layout. Go through you sb supplies and put them all in sheet protector. Then when you have the time to work on the page everything is there and all you have to do is add the picture. 08-19-99
Tip #10 If you don't have one of the new photo keeper storage units that they now sell you can sort your pictures and put them in envelopes. Lable the envelope so you know what's in it, example trip to grandparents, Christmas 98, Easter egg hunt, ect. Then store in a clear plastic container ( Walmart and Kmart have lots of shapes and sizes). You can also store your negatives in the plastic container that the film orginally came in. Label the container and then you wont have to wonder whats on the negatives.
Tip #11 Instead of buying a $30 binder just for your stickers or die-cuts get one of those coupon or check holders. They make great storage containers and organizers for die cuts and sticker.01-14-00
Tip #12 Scanners are a great scrapbooking helper - and they are getting so cheap now (you can get them for $40 or $50 sometimes less with a rebate). Any picture you can scan you can format any way you'd like - plus you can add virtually any lettering you'd like. Also - I scan pictures and reduce them and the copy and paste them to create personalized borders etc. By using the smaller reduced pictures you can also add more of the pictures you want to your layout without having the expense of reprints. My current favorite is a picture of my son while he is posing with a border of pictures of him goofing off before it was time to get serious and pose for the original picture. I was able to add numerous pictures to one layout that would have taken several pages and lost the effect if I had used them full size. Plus it shows so much of his personality that the posed picture does not. .01-15-00
Tip #13Wondering what to do with all those extra photos that wern't suitable for your scrapbook? Cut them into squares and use them to make fantastic mosaic pages. Or practice using that circle, ovel, or Doodle cutter on them.01-17-00
Tip #14Keep all your photos where you caught a friend in mid blink, with thier eyes closed, tongue sticking out, or other blooped photos and make a bloopers page for endless laughs.01-17-00
Tip #15 Have you ever been doing a layout and wanted some stickers, but when you get to the scrapbooking store you tend to over buy or get something that really won't work for your layout? Here's a nifty idea: keep an ordering catalog(from somewhere like Stickerplanet.com) of stickers at your scrappin area and look through it before you go to the scrapbook store. Take a sticky note and mark the page and sticker that you want. Then you can simply ask if they carry the sticker you want. If they don't, then you can always order online. :)05-29-00
Tip #16 Got a night light, 13X9 clear glass baking dish and an extension cord? You've got a light box and you didn't even know it! Plug in the extension cord, add the night light to the extension cord and place it under the dish...now trace away!! 07-16-00
