“Camelot
to Smithereens” (JCH -- 1993)
Conspiracy
starts with a reason
And
what better reason than treason?
Kill
a leader
Elect
a saint
The
blood flowing though the plaza
Won’t
wash away like paint.
A
hero for our times
He
left behind a legacy of hope
Not
what he did
But
what could have been
Instead
of a rifle scope.
It’s
not about a figure in the window
Or
the man in the doorway
Not
the black dog man
Or
the badgeman
For
these are mere game pieces
In
a political board game
“Camelot
to smithereens”
He
lay in the ground
Above
him the eternal flame
All
around us the eternal doubt.
