Taken with my old Wal Mart camera, this shot shows the L&C
Depot/Office in
Lancaster, South Carolina. That's Clinchfield Railroad Office Car
#100, now
privately owned, in front of the L&C-owned J.P. Henderson car.
The latter is rented
out most of the year and also sees service for Springs execs. Springs,
Industries has
owned the L&C since the line opened in 1896. If you squint your
eyes real hard and look between the depot and the cars, almost in the center
of the picture, you can see L&C #1013, a 40 foot box car part of a
batch the L&C bought in the early 1950s. This one sits near the Market
Street connection as storage for the Museum. The Museum, while we're talking
about it, is located on the second floor of the depot. In this shot, you
would enter at the door where the blue sign is in front of the parked truck.
