A brief glance at how the Internet and Computer Mediated Communications have facilitated the exploration of dreams and dreaming.
It is part of the history and folklore of the Internet that while it was being developed to increase the production time of unused computers by linking them together, an unexpected set of events occurred: Messages could be exchanged. It was the e-mail messages that comprised most of the net use. The whole idea of what an internet could be radically changed. New forms of communication developed and eventually were used by dream concerned individuals to communicate their dreams and ideas on dreaming.A second major discovery occurred, that directly linking information together (hyperlink, hypertext) was a vastly superior method to un-linked documentation.
Now classes are conducted online, dream groups form and evolve, public arenas for discussion of dream topic & news have emerged and research can be accessed and conducted under a whole new paradigm of interconnectivity.
