ABSTRACT
DREAMS, WAKING DREAMS AND PATTERNS OF SLEEP AMONG CREATIVE AGING

General Event with MIGLIORINI, W. J. M. PhD.

The aim of this work is the research of symbolic images occurring among healthful or creative aging people, and  consists of a research on  a group of twenty six sexagenarians and septuagenarians, who were evaluated as mentally healthful according to medical exams and psychological tests, such as "Mini-mental State Scale" and "Geriatric Depression Scale" - data which were found in Ceolim's study (1999) on sleep patterns in aged people.  The images of dreams were collected and the subjects were submitted to the AT.9:Archétype-test a neuf elements (Durand, 19988) - an inductor of waking dreamings.  The data analysis reveals the "non-structuration universe" category as predominant - in a type of "formal mysticism" expressed by a kind of "fusion" and even "confusion" of images, meanings and symbols. On the other hand, and taking account Ceolim's study, one may say that the images of dreams and waking dreams' struturation seems to be related to sleep patterns; for example, "formal mysticism" and snooze behaviour. A preliminary approach of the results may point to the fact that "matutine individuals" tend to reveal an "heroic structure" while "vespertine individuals" reveal a "mystic structure" of symbolic images.
